I need HELP with my MP3 player?

I have an 8GB RCA OPAL MP3 Player. Last night after I disconnected it from my computer, the screen read "Boot Error! Please Format Unit" So I looked up the answer here (on this website) and the answer I read said "Go to MY COMPUTER and right click the MP3 player icon, then choose format..." I followed these instructions, but the same message appeared. The task accomplished nothing...what do I do??
