Baruch College and then transfer to NYU, Columbia, or Fordham?

I have been accepted to Baruch College and I am waiting to hear from Fordham University. However I probably will not get in to Fordham because of my midyear report. Do you think it is a good idea to do a year or to at Baruch in order to boost my grades and get some core curriculum out at a really cheap price? And what kind of reputation does Baruch have. I am a Marketing and Advertising major so I am aware that NYU is the number one in the country for that major. Is it possible to transfer to NYU after a year or two? What should I do?
